BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) announces the application period for the federally funded Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and the state-funded North Dakota Homeless Grant (NDHG). The application window will be from May 15 to May 30, 2024.
“These grants play a crucial role in supporting North Dakota’s homeless response system,” said Dave Flohr, NDHFA executive director. They deliver critical assistance to those in need, supporting efforts in providing pathways to stability for our most vulnerable community members.”
ESG and NDHG funds provide financial support to eligible local government and nonprofit organizations who offer emergency shelter, supportive services, and financial assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Funds may be used to:
- Engage homeless individuals and families living on the street.
- Improve the number and quality of emergency shelters for homeless individuals and families.
- Assist in operation of shelters.
- Provide essential services to shelter residents.
- Rapidly re-house individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
- Prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless.
Approximately $836,500 and $906,706 are available for the Emergency Solutions Grant and North Dakota Homeless Grant, respectively.
The application process for awarding funds is competitive and based on the selection criteria outlined in the allocation plan.
