BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) is now accepting applications from homeless service providers seeking funding through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and North Dakota Homeless Grant (NDHG).

“NDHFA’s collaboration with local service providers is essential to reaching as many people as possible,” said Dave Flohr, NDHFA executive director. “These grants provide financial support for critical services aimed at assisting the state’s unhoused population.”

ESG and NDHG funds provide financial support to eligible local government and nonprofit organizations who offer emergency shelter, supportive services, and financial assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Funds may be used to:

  • Engage homeless individuals and families living on the street.
  • Improve the number and quality of emergency shelters for homeless individuals and families.
  • Assist in the operation of shelters.
  • Provide essential services to shelter residents.
  • Rapidly re-house individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
  • Prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless.

The application process for awarding funds is competitive and based on the selection criteria outlined in the allocation plan. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. CDT on May 30, 2025. Funding amounts through ESG and NDHG will be announced at a later date.

More information about the programs and the application process is available on NDHFA’s website or by contacting the Homeless Programs Administrator at hfahomelessprograms@nd.gov, 701-328-8080, 800-292-8621, or 711 (TTY).
