Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program
NDHFA ensures the continued availability of safe, decent and affordable rental housing for low-income, elderly or disabled households by allocating tax credits for development of such properties and then monitoring the properties to ensure compliance with Internal Revenue Service regulations.
Am I Eligible?
Eligibility is based on income with verification required for all persons in the household. Tenant eligibility is recertified annually.
Dependent students are not eligible for the program.
Tenants are responsible for paying the full rent themselves which is generally lower than at comparable market-rate apartments.
It is possible to use a voucher from a county housing authority at these properties.
A minimum security deposit is required, and varies by property.
How Do I Apply?
These rental units are located in communities across the state. Application is made directly to the property managers/owners. NDHFA can provide a list of statewide properties that participate in the program.
