Homeownership Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program
Under the Homeownership Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program (HARP) NDHFA purchases and rehabilitates existing single family homes for resale to eligible homebuyers. It assists low-income households achieve affordable homeownership and rehabilitates existing housing stock throughout the state. It is administered jointly with the North Dakota Community Action Agency .
Applicants must have an annual income equal to or less than 80 percent of the median income (adjusted for family size) for the county in which the property is located, and be an acceptable credit risk. Applicants must complete an NDHFA approved homebuyer education workshop before purchasing a home. There is limited assistance available for downpayment and closing costs.
Homes will comply with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and environmental requirements at the time of resale. Homes will be sold at their as-repaired appraised value.
Contact the Community Action Agency in your area for an application. They will assist the homebuyer through the process.
