To ensure that everyone impacted by this year’s historic flooding is able to get the help they need, NDHFA is encouraging disaster victims to register with FEMA and complete applications for other assistance. Those impacted by flooding in Barnes, Benson, Burleigh, McHenry, Morton, Ramsey, Renville, Richland and Ward Counties and on the Spirit Lake Reservation are strongly encouraged to register for assistance before the Sept. 22 deadline. You can register by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 (TTY), or online at www.disasterassistance.gov. We are also encouraging disaster victims to apply for financial assistance from SBA. Renters and homeowners may borrow up to $40,000 to repair or replace belongings damaged or destroyed in the disaster. Homeowners may apply for up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence to its pre-disaster condition. SBA disaster representatives are available at all Disaster Recovery Centers and the Business Recovery Centers. Those applying don’t necessarily have to take the loans but it is important to apply in case you do need the funds. To date, SBA has approved more than $174 million in loans. The Resources Agencies Flood Team, made up of a number of faith-based and community-based agencies, is working to connect victims with resources for long-term recovery through case management of unmet needs. Those who have suffered from flooding are asked to complete an application before Oct. 31. Information may be found at www.minotnd.org/pdf/flood/RAFT.pdf. If you or your organizations would like to volunteer or donate to flood relief efforts, go to www.nddisasterinfo.com. |
